Nowadays I photograph weddings, which are very much like the magazine features I used to photograph before. There are small details, portraits and the 'grand photograph.'
All the while I try and behave like a fly on the wall, observing and photographing, without interfering.
Wedding photography is possibly one of the few areas left for the documentary photographer to make a mark. It is a combination of co-operation with the client (the bride) and the subject matter (the wedding party). While the results are unlikely to be published, the finished story (or wedding album) is likely to survive long into the future.
